Archiving the Unseen – Vol. 1

Archiving the Unseen begins with a simple idea: 1 = 1. It seems stable and equal, but as philosopher Jacques Derrida suggests, something always slips through—context, emotion, texture—things we can’t fully translate.

This first volume presents 13 experiments that explore translation as a creative and critical process—not about matching one thing to another, but about transformation. Translation becomes a way of revealing what’s usually hidden: the gaps, shifts, and new meanings that emerge in between.

The project is always ongoing, just like the process of translation. That is why people can add their own experiments on the website, so that Vol. 2 can come out soon.
